Speedrun is a gaming-adjacent EDM microgenre designed for adrenaline, focus, and momentum. It blends hyper-energetic drops with catchy, game-like melodies and rapid switch‑ups that mirror the pace and tension of timed gameplay. Typically sitting between 140–175+ BPM, the style pivots between half‑time dubstep weight, electro/complextro riffing, glitchy fills, and drum & bass acceleration. Producers favor bright, synthetic leads (often with chiptune flourishes), tightly sidechained supersaws, and animated bass design that stays clean and punchy for streaming. The mood is triumphant, high‑octane, and “level‑up” cinematic—made to keep speedrunners and viewers locked in.

Viral rap is a mode of hip hop designed to spread quickly through social platforms. It is defined less by a single regional sound than by short, quotable hooks, meme-ready lyrics, and production choices that translate well to phone speakers. Common traits include simplified, high-contrast beats (hard 808s, crisp claps, bright synth leads), repetitive catchphrases, and a focus on moments that can be clipped for TikTok/Reels/Shorts. The genre often overlaps with modern trap and internet rap, and it frequently rewards personality, humor, and shock value as much as technical rapping.

Chopped and screwed is a hip-hop remix technique and regional style that slows songs down dramatically—often to around 60–70 BPM—and lowers the pitch, creating a syrupy, heavy-lidded feel. DJs then "chop" the audio by cutting, repeating, and stuttering phrases, adding backspins, brakes, and pauses to exaggerate groove and space. Pioneered in Houston, Texas by DJ Screw in the early 1990s, the sound is closely tied to car culture (SLABs) and the codeine-lean aesthetic. While originally rooted in mixtapes of Southern rap, the approach has since been applied to R&B, pop, and even electronic music, becoming a widely imitated post-production sensibility across the internet era.
