Jerk is a microgenre of hip‑hop that took shape in New York City in the early 2020s. It borrows the name and some rhythmic cues from the earlier "jerk rap"/jerkin' movement connected to West Coast street dance, but reimagines them through the aesthetics of contemporary underground rap. Sonically, jerk favors sparse, snare‑forward drum programming with very light or even absent kicks, dry percussion, and short looping motifs. The production often draws on the airy pads, glassy bells, and minimalist melodies of Plugg and PluggnB, but strips arrangements down further to leave lots of negative space for tightly phrased, talk‑like rap flows. The result is bouncy yet understated, intimate yet danceable.

Emoplugg is a micro-genre of internet-born rap that fuses the melodic melancholy of emo rap with the bouncy, bell-led swing of plugg/pluggnb production. Songs typically pair glossy, detuned bell or mallet leads, rubbery 808 glides, and skittering hi-hats with vulnerable, tuneful vocals delivered through heavy Auto‑Tune, doubles, and airy ad‑libs. Compared with classic plugg, emoplugg foregrounds confessional hooks, wistful chord loops (often minor with wistful modal mixture), and clean, lightweight sound design that leans closer to hyperpop/digicore sheen than to gritty trap. The result is a bittersweet mix: danceable and bright on the surface, yet lyrically anxious, heartbroken, and nostalgic—tailor‑made for SoundCloud, Discord collectives, and TikTok feeds.

UA trap (Ukrainian trap) is a regional movement of trap music in which artists rap primarily in Ukrainian (and sometimes in mixed Ukrainian/Russian/Surzhyk), blending contemporary trap sonics with local slang, cultural references, and post‑Euromaidan social realities. Musically it adopts hallmark trap features—808 sub-bass, skittering hi-hats, half-time grooves, autotune-drenched hooks—while lyrically ranging from streetwise boasts and nightlife vignettes to intimate reflections on identity, displacement, and war-time experience. The result is a dark-tinged yet emotive style that feels both globally current and distinctly Ukrainian.

Necrotrap is a dark, morbid branch of trap that fuses the slow, sub‑heavy bounce of Southern trap with horrorcore’s macabre lyricism and witch house’s occult, lo‑fi haze. Producers sculpt bleak atmospheres with detuned bells, creaking pianos, church choirs, funeral organs, reversed pads, and sound‑design lifted from horror films or VHS hiss. Beats typically center on distorted 808s, clipped saturation, and rattling hi‑hat grids full of triplets and burst rolls. Vocals range from deep, ominous deliveries and whispers to harsh growls and screamed ad‑libs, with themes of death, nihilism, occultism, isolation, and urban decay. The palette is intentionally abrasive and cinematic—equal parts trap banger and sonic horror short.

Krushclub is a SoundCloud-born microgenre that fuses trap and club music with the distorted, post-internet aesthetics popularized by sigilkore. Its signature sound centers on bitcrushed synths, heavy post-processing of vocals (pitch-shifting, formant play, and hard clipping), and energetic, Jersey Club–derived kick patterns and bounce. Producers stack layers of digital artifacts—bitcrush, sample-rate reduction, tape-warp, and brickwall limiting—over cloud-rap-adjacent melodies and pads. The result is a hyper-digital, high-contrast mix: glossy top-end grit over booming 808s, chopped call‑and‑response vocal hooks, and edits that nod to slowed+reverb culture, nightcore acceleration, and DJ-style mash layering.
