Dream plugg is an airy, ethereal offshoot of the plugg/pluggnb branch of trap that emphasizes soft pads, bell-like plucks, gentle 808s, and chorus-washed synths. It retains the swingy hi-hats and minimal drum programming of classic plugg beats, but coats them in a hazy, dreamlike atmosphere. Vocals in dream plugg tend to be melodic and reverb-kissed, often autotuned and understated rather than aggressive. The result sits between cloud rap’s weightless vibe and pluggnb’s sleek, R&B-tinted bounce—music that feels nostalgic, floating, and emotive while remaining rhythmically light on its feet.

Emoplugg is a micro-genre of internet-born rap that fuses the melodic melancholy of emo rap with the bouncy, bell-led swing of plugg/pluggnb production. Songs typically pair glossy, detuned bell or mallet leads, rubbery 808 glides, and skittering hi-hats with vulnerable, tuneful vocals delivered through heavy Auto‑Tune, doubles, and airy ad‑libs. Compared with classic plugg, emoplugg foregrounds confessional hooks, wistful chord loops (often minor with wistful modal mixture), and clean, lightweight sound design that leans closer to hyperpop/digicore sheen than to gritty trap. The result is a bittersweet mix: danceable and bright on the surface, yet lyrically anxious, heartbroken, and nostalgic—tailor‑made for SoundCloud, Discord collectives, and TikTok feeds.

Jerk is a microgenre of hip‑hop that took shape in New York City in the early 2020s. It borrows the name and some rhythmic cues from the earlier "jerk rap"/jerkin' movement connected to West Coast street dance, but reimagines them through the aesthetics of contemporary underground rap. Sonically, jerk favors sparse, snare‑forward drum programming with very light or even absent kicks, dry percussion, and short looping motifs. The production often draws on the airy pads, glassy bells, and minimalist melodies of Plugg and PluggnB, but strips arrangements down further to leave lots of negative space for tightly phrased, talk‑like rap flows. The result is bouncy yet understated, intimate yet danceable.

Terror plugg (sometimes called "alarm plugg") is a dark, harsher, and noisier offshoot of plugg/pluggnb. It keeps plugg’s bouncy rimshot-driven drums and gliding 808 patterns, but replaces dreamy pads with eerie, horror-score textures, dissonant bells, detuned choirs, and bleak minor-key motifs. A defining hallmark is the treatment of the bass: 808s are clipped, overdriven, and pushed into the high mids to create a piercing, alarm‑like presence that cuts through small speakers and viral clips. Vocals tend to be cold, deadpan, or menacing whispers, with lyrics that lean toward paranoia, street menace, and occult or night‑stalker imagery.

Pluggnb is a melodic internet-born branch of Southern trap that fuses plugg-style production with R&B-leaning, sung rap approaches. It is characterized by deep 808 basslines, sparkly or glassy synth melodies, dense and often quicker drum programming than early plugg, and vocals that emphasize melody, softness, and emotional delivery. The overall sound is frequently airy and digital, with bright arpeggios, bell-like leads, and a clean yet saturated low end designed for headphones and online playback.

Plugg is a trap-derived hip hop subgenre that rose through online, producer-led scenes—especially SoundCloud—in the mid-2010s. It is known for minimal, “compact” drum programming, sub-heavy 808 basslines, and bright, sparkly melodic loops (often piano, bell-like keys, airy pads, or icy synth leads). Vocals are typically melodic and laid-back, leaning into Southern rap cadences and Auto-Tune, with hooks that feel floaty and repetitive over spacious low-end.
