HexD is a net-native microgenre of hip‑hop and electronic music defined by extreme bitcrushing, aggressive down/upsampling, hard clipping, and compression applied to beats and especially to vocals. Tracks often feature sped‑up and pitched‑up (sometimes formant‑shifted) vocal edits over trap‑leaning drums or breakbeat fragments, creating a distorted, digital, hazy, and psychedelic texture. Many releases are edits or reworks of existing material from rap, emo rap, and digicore/hyperpop, treated as raw sound to be “hexxed” with digital artifacts. Aesthetically, the scene is tightly tied to online platforms and DIY collectives, embracing early‑web, anime, and lo‑fi internet visuals while prioritizing mood, texture, and immediacy over fidelity.

Mallsoft is a subgenre of vaporwave that magnifies the sound and ambience of shopping malls, corporate lobbies, food courts, and retail soundtracks. It often loops, slows, and filters archival easy listening, smooth jazz, or library music to simulate the dreamlike experience of wandering an empty mall. The style foregrounds spatial illusion and consumer nostalgia: wide reverbs, distant PA announcements, and fountain or escalator noise create a glossy yet uncanny, hyper-commercial environment. Rather than rhythmic drive, mallsoft prioritizes mood, texture, and the sensation of endless browsing in a perpetually pristine retail space.

Future ambient is a contemporary strain of ambient music that blends classic beatless atmospheres with modern sound design and post-dubstep, IDM, and minimal techno sensibilities. It typically emphasizes wide, cinematic pads; granular and spectral processing; subtly evolving textures; and low-end sculpting borrowed from modern electronic production. Rhythms, when present, are usually subliminal—pulses, shuffled ghost-kicks, or distant, hazy percussion—so the music retains an essentially immersive, contemplative character while feeling unmistakably current. Compared with 1990s ambient techno and early drone, future ambient tends to be cleaner in its spatial imaging, more detailed in micro-sound events, and more influenced by contemporary mixing and mastering aesthetics developed for headphones and streaming.
