Powerstomp
Powerstomp is a high-energy offshoot of UK Hardcore that emphasizes a heavy, stomping 4/4 kick, euphoric melodies, and festival-sized drops. It typically runs around 165–175 BPM, replacing the rolling breakbeats of older happy hardcore with hardstyle/gabber-weighted kicks, reverse-bass grooves, and bouncy offbeat basslines. Bright supersaw leads, hands-in-the-air breakdowns, chopped vocals, and simple, chantable riffs make it highly dancefloor-focused and immediately impactful.

Tanzorchester
Tanzorchester (literally “dance orchestra”) denotes the German large‑ensemble tradition that provided fashionable social dance music for ballrooms, cafés, and—after 1945—radio and television. In practice it functioned as the German counterpart to the American big band, but typically with an added string choir alongside saxophone and brass sections, plus a rhythm section (piano/guitar, bass, drums). Repertoires mixed foxtrots, waltzes, tangos, rumbas and later swing, as well as arrangements of Schlager and film tunes. The format crystallised in the Weimar era and matured around Germany’s broadcasting system: house dance orchestras accompanied singers in studios, cut 78‑rpm discs, and filled daily schedules with “leichte Unterhaltung” (light entertainment). Compared with US swing bands, Tanzorchester often foregrounded lush string melodies, with reeds and brass providing riffs and countermelodies—an aesthetic that carried into postwar radio dance orchestras.

Hardingfele
Hardingfele refers to the Hardanger fiddle tradition of Norway—both the specially built fiddle and its repertoire of rural dance-tunes (slåttar) and listening pieces. The instrument looks similar to a violin but has 4 (sometimes 5) bowed strings above, plus 4–6 sympathetic strings underneath that vibrate in resonance, producing a shimmering, bell-like halo. Players use cross-tunings (scordatura) tailored to each tune family, abundant double-stops and drones, highly ornamented fingering, and subtle bow pulses. Rhythms often carry the distinctive asymmetrical triple-time swing of regional springar styles, and melodies gravitate to modal colors (Dorian, Mixolydian) with flexible intonation.
