The new wave of speed metal is a 2010s revivalist movement that resurrects the breakneck tempos, razor‑edged riffing, and high‑energy songwriting of classic 1980s speed metal. It favors twin‑guitar harmonies, athletic rhythm sections, and soaring, clean vocals that deliver anthemic hooks. Unlike the harsher edge of thrash, this wave leans into melodicism and precision: galloping rhythms, tightly palm‑muted alternate‑picked riffs, and flamboyant guitar solos. Production tends to be crisp but analog‑minded, evoking vintage warmth while meeting modern loudness and clarity.

Acidcore is a hard, fast, and abrasive strain of acid-driven dance music that fuses the squelching TB‑303 lines of acid house/acid techno with the high-impact drums, distortion, and intensity of hardcore techno and early gabber. Typically running at 150–180 BPM, acidcore foregrounds relentless 909/808‑style kick drums (often distorted), off‑beat hats, clattering rides, and gritty percussion beneath hypnotic, resonant 303 sequences. The mood leans raw, underground, and rave‑oriented, with long-form arrangements designed for free parties and warehouse floors. Where classic acid emphasizes trippy groove, acidcore pushes the sonic aggression and tempo, preserving the hypnotic acidity while amplifying the energy for late‑night peak moments.

Black speed metal is a high‑octane fusion of first‑wave black metal’s occult rasp and atmosphere with the streamlined, galloping riffcraft of speed and early thrash. It favors treble‑forward, raw guitar tones; punk‑charged skank beats and d‑beats at brisk tempos; and venomous, reverb‑smeared vocals. The style emphasizes short, hooky songs; Motörhead‑style drive; and satanic, blasphemous, or hellrider lyrics delivered with a feral edge. Production is intentionally rough‑and‑ready to preserve energy and danger, evoking the leather, spikes, and chains aesthetic that defines the genre’s attitude.
