Kréyol Djaz
Kréyol djaz (Creole jazz) is a modern Caribbean jazz movement rooted in the French Antilles that blends the rhythmic DNA of Guadeloupe and Martinique with contemporary jazz language. It fuses gwo ka and bèlè drum traditions, the buoyant swing of biguine and mazurka, and post-bop/modal harmony, often carried by piano- or sax-led ensembles. The result is music that grooves with unmistakably Antillean cadences while embracing the improvisational freedom and harmonic richness of jazz. Performances alternate between lyrical, song-form pieces sung in Creole and instrumental vehicles with head–solos–head structures, all propelled by hybrid drum-set/ka-percussion patterns and supple bass lines.

French Caribbean Music
French Caribbean music is an umbrella term for popular and folkloric styles from the French Antilles (Guadeloupe, Martinique, Dominica, Saint Lucia) and from Haiti. It encompasses island dance musics (biguine, gwo ka, bélé), the Haitian méringue-derived compas (konpa), 1970s cadence-lypso, and the 1980s studio-driven zouk, along with many regional variants. Shared features include Creole (Kréyol/Créole) and French lyrics, call-and-response refrains, syncopated hand-drumming patterns (ka, ti-bwa), horn riffs, tumbling bass ostinatos, and a strong emphasis on social dance. While instrumentation evolved from acoustic ensembles to drum machines and synthesizers, the heartbeat remains the Caribbean dance floor.

French Jazz
French jazz is the French branch of jazz that took root in Paris and other urban centers after World War I, when African American musicians and touring bands introduced the music to a receptive café and cabaret culture. It blends American jazz idioms with French musical sensibilities, notably chanson, musette waltzes, and a refined classical ear for color and melody. Its sound ranges from the acoustic swing of the 1930s Hot Club style (guitar- and violin-led ensembles) to postwar bebop, cool and modal currents, free improvisation, and later fusions with chanson and electronic music. Hallmarks include lyrical, song-like themes, supple swing feels, elegant harmonic voicings, and, in some strands, the distinctive "la pompe" rhythm of manouche guitar and the timbre of accordion and violin. Today, French jazz encompasses both traditional and forward-looking approaches: intimate acoustic combos, orchestral and filmic jazz, and hybrid forms that intersect with nu jazz, electro-swing, and contemporary European improvisation.
