Lilith is a mood-driven, internet-native microgenre that blends dark, feminine alternative pop with elements of trip hop, dream pop, witch house, and ethereal wave. It favors breathy or intimate vocals drenched in reverb, slow to mid-tempo grooves, spectral pads, and cinematic, minor-key harmonies that evoke occult, gothic, or mythic imagery. The overall sound is bass-forward yet gauzy: sub-heavy 808s or dusty breakbeats sit under shimmering guitars, distant choirs, and textural synths. Lyrically, Lilith leans into vulnerability, power, hauntings, and desire—frequently framed through confessional writing and ritual or nocturnal symbolism. It’s less a scene tied to a single city than a streaming-era aesthetic, cohering through playlists and social media communities.

Laboratorio is a Brazilian micro‑scene within contemporary hip hop that coalesced around artist‑run collectives and label ecosystems (most visibly Laboratório Fantasma). It blends boom‑bap and modern trap sensibilities with MPB, samba, and neo‑soul harmony, placing lyricism and social commentary at the core. The sound is defined by sample‑friendly, groove‑rich beats, live percussion drawn from Afro‑Brazilian traditions, and melodic hooks that often nod to MPB and samba‑soul. Artists use Portuguese lyricism to address race, class, identity, and everyday life, pairing incisive bars with warm, humanized production and frequent collaborations across rap, R&B, and pop.

Ectofolk is a spectral, reverb-soaked strain of contemporary folk that blends intimate singer‑songwriter writing with the hazy atmospherics of dream pop and ethereal wave. Characterized by airy, breathy vocals, fingerpicked guitars, distant drones, and cavernous room ambience, it evokes a ghostly, liminal mood—more twilight confessional than campfire song. The songs often move at unhurried tempos, hinge on minor/modal harmonies, and frame personal or uncanny imagery inside spacious, cinematic mixes.
