Drift
Drift is a contemporary micro-style of ambient centered on slowly evolving tonal beds, gentle tape-worn textures, and an emphasis on atmosphere over event. It favors long decays, soft-focus harmonies, and minimal or absent percussion so that sounds seem to hover and "drift" in place. Production typically blends synth pads, processed guitar, and found sounds with heavy use of reverb, delay, and subtle modulation. Compared to classic dark ambient, drift is warmer and more consonant; compared to new age, it is more textural and reductionist. The result is music designed for deep listening, sleep, study, or contemplative environments.

Baroque Pop
Baroque pop is a mid‑1960s fusion of contemporary pop/rock songwriting with the timbres, textures, and contrapuntal techniques of Baroque and broader European classical music. It is marked by harpsichord and piano doubling, string quartets or small orchestras, woodwinds (oboe, recorder, bassoon), French horn and piccolo trumpet colors, and melody‑forward arrangements that favor counter‑melodies and suspensions over riff‑based accompaniment. Harmonies tend to be richer than standard rock, with chromatic voice‑leading, circle‑of‑fifths motion, deceptive cadences, and occasional modulations. Production is usually lush and reverberant, supporting reflective, often nostalgic or romantic lyrics. Although it overlaps with orchestral pop and psychedelic pop, baroque pop is distinguished by its chamber‑scale instrumentation, Baroque idioms (basso continuo feel, ornamented lines), and the way classical elements are woven into compact pop song forms.

Soul Jazz
Soul jazz is a groove-forward branch of jazz that blends the improvisational language of hard bop with the churchy harmonies of gospel and the backbeat of rhythm & blues. It favors memorable riffs, earthy tones, and a strong, danceable pulse over dense harmonic complexity. Typical settings include Hammond B-3 organ trios (organ, guitar, drums) or small combos with saxophone or trumpet. Tunes often use blues forms, minor-key vamps, and gospel cadences, featuring call-and-response figures, pentatonic and blues-scale lines, and a relaxed but insistent pocket. The overall aesthetic is warm, direct, and soulful—equally at home in jazz clubs, lounges, and on the radio.

Progressive Big Band
Progressive big band is a post–World War II evolution of big band jazz that shifts the focus from dance music to concert-oriented, highly arranged works. It preserves the massed brass-and-reeds power of swing-era ensembles, but adopts bebop’s advanced harmony and lines, classical orchestration techniques, and ambitious, often through-composed forms. Arrangers favored expanded instrumentation (French horns, tuba, Latin percussion, sometimes strings), dense voicings, polytonality, and dramatic dynamic contrasts, yielding a bold, modernist “concert jazz” sound. Compared with swing, the rhythm can alternate between a hard-driving 4/4, even-eighth feels, Latin grooves, and unusual meters, while sections trade contrapuntal lines more than riff-based call-and-response. The result is an epic, sometimes imposing aesthetic that bridged jazz and contemporary classical ideas.
