Indie triste ("sad indie") is a Spanish‑language micro‑scene of indie pop/folk that foregrounds intimate, melancholic songwriting and understated, bedroom‑made production. Its core sound blends soft acoustic guitars, gently pulsing rhythms, close‑mic’d vocals, and lo‑fi textures, often wrapped in reverb and tape‑like warmth. Thematically, the songs dwell on heartache, small‑town longing, fleeting youth, and late‑night introspection. While rooted in indie folk and singer‑songwriter traditions, the style embraces contemporary bedroom pop aesthetics and dream‑pop atmospheres, prioritizing mood and storytelling over virtuoso display.

Latin R&B blends the smooth vocal stylings, harmony-rich chords, and intimate storytelling of contemporary R&B with the rhythms, language, and melodic sensibilities of the Latin world. Typical productions feature half‑time trap/R&B grooves, lush pads, electric pianos, 808 bass, and syncopated percussion that nods to dembow, bachata, or bolero. Sung largely in Spanish (often with Spanglish hooks), the genre centers on romance, desire, heartbreak, and late‑night introspection. Melisma, ad‑libs, and airy harmonies sit alongside minimalist beats, nylon‑string or clean electric guitar licks, and occasional samples from classic Latin styles. The result is a sensual, modern sound that bridges U.S. R&B aesthetics with Caribbean and Latin American rhythmic DNA.

Argentine trap is the Southern Cone’s spin on Latin trap and contemporary hip hop, forged by a generation raised on freestyle battles, YouTube, and low‑cost bedroom production. It blends the half‑time bounce of trap (heavy 808s, rattling hi‑hats, gliding bass) with Rioplatense Spanish, lunfardo slang, melodic Auto‑Tune hooks, and pop‑ready refrains. Compared with Puerto Rican and U.S. Latin trap, the Argentine branch often pivots between braggadocio and introspective, romantic, or melancholic storytelling, and it freely cross‑pollinates with reggaeton and pop to reach massive mainstream audiences.

Proto-hyperpop is a retrospective label for the cluster of internet-born pop experiments in the early-to-mid 2010s that foreshadowed what would later be called “hyperpop.” It fused candy-coated melodies and pitched-up vocals with maximalist sound design, glossy synthetic timbres, and playful, self-aware pop tropes. Rather than being a single scene, proto-hyperpop emerged across YouTube nightcore edits, early PC Music releases, and adjacent electronic and indie-pop circles. It drew heavily from Eurodance and trance hooks, J-pop and Vocaloid aesthetics, chiptune brightness, and the irreverent futurism of experimental pop and deconstructed club, while keeping an addictive, radio-ready sense of melody.
