Trap cristiano (Spanish-language Christian trap) blends the sound design and rhythmic vocabulary of trap with explicitly Christian, biblically rooted, and testimony‑driven lyrics. It is characterized by 808-heavy low end, skittering hi-hats, half‑time grooves, and moody minor‑key pads, while centering themes such as faith, redemption, worship, and social conscience. The style grew out of long‑standing Hispanic Christian hip hop and reggaetón ministries and adapted the aesthetics of the mid‑2010s Latin trap boom to serve church, youth, and urban outreach contexts across Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and the wider Latin diaspora.

Dembow is a high‑energy Dominican style that takes the classic Jamaican "Dem Bow" dancehall riddim and pushes it faster and harder. Emerging in the early 1990s, it developed alongside reggaeton but in the Dominican Republic it evolved into its own club‑centric form with rapid tempos, chant‑like vocals, and minimal, loop‑driven arrangements. The core of dembow is the sped‑up Dem Bow drum pattern—thudding kicks, crisp snares, off‑beat hi‑hats, and frequent cowbells—often paired with distorted 808s and short, catchy hooks. Lyrically it favors street slang, party themes, and call‑and‑response delivery designed for dance floors and block parties.

Rap cristiano is Spanish-language Christian rap that blends hip‑hop’s verbal virtuosity with explicitly faith-centered themes. Rooted in testimony, scripture, and street realism, it aims to edify while retaining the stylistic edge of urban rap. Musically it spans boom‑bap, trap, and Latin urban rhythms, often colored by gospel harmony, sung hooks, and congregational call‑and‑response. Lyrically it moves from personal conversion narratives and social critique to worship and evangelism, delivered in Spanish (often with Spanglish) and local slang. The genre built strong scenes across Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and U.S. Latino communities, forming a bridge between church spaces and hip‑hop culture. Its artists prioritize clean, uplifting content without sacrificing flow, punchlines, or contemporary production.

Christian hip hop (also called holy hip hop or gospel rap) is a form of hip hop whose lyrics explicitly reflect the Christian faith, including themes of scripture, testimony, hope, social justice, and discipleship. Musically it spans the same spectrum as mainstream hip hop—from classic boom‑bap to Southern trap and melodic pop‑rap—often blending church-leaning elements like gospel choirs, worship-style hooks, and positive, exhortative messaging. While it shares the rhythmic, vocal, and production grammar of hip hop, its center of gravity is theological and pastoral, aiming to edify believers and engage broader audiences without resorting to profanity or nihilism.

Christian (often shortened to Christian music or CCM in market terms) is an umbrella genre for popular and worship-oriented music whose lyrics explicitly express the Christian faith. It blends contemporary songwriting and production with devotional intent, ranging from pop and rock to folk, country, and modern worship anthems designed for congregational singing. While rooted in centuries of church music and hymnody, the modern "Christian" genre coalesced in the late 1960s United States with the Jesus Movement, later building its own labels, radio networks, and touring circuits. Today it includes radio-friendly CCM, stadium worship, youth-focused pop/rock, and stylistic fusions that carry Christian themes into nearly every mainstream style.
