Ambient plugg is a microgenre that fuses the airy, meditative textures of ambient music with the sparse drums, gliding 808s, and bouncy swing of plugg-style trap. It emphasizes soft pads, delicate bell or synth motifs, minimal percussion, and generous use of reverb and delay to create a floating, weightless feel. Compared to standard plugg, ambient plugg often lowers intensity, reduces melodic density, and foregrounds sustained chords and space, making it suitable both for reflective vocals and instrumental listening. The result is a calm, pastel-toned sound palette where groove remains present but understated, with drums supporting rather than dominating the atmospheric fabric.

Jerk is a microgenre of hip‑hop that took shape in New York City in the early 2020s. It borrows the name and some rhythmic cues from the earlier "jerk rap"/jerkin' movement connected to West Coast street dance, but reimagines them through the aesthetics of contemporary underground rap. Sonically, jerk favors sparse, snare‑forward drum programming with very light or even absent kicks, dry percussion, and short looping motifs. The production often draws on the airy pads, glassy bells, and minimalist melodies of Plugg and PluggnB, but strips arrangements down further to leave lots of negative space for tightly phrased, talk‑like rap flows. The result is bouncy yet understated, intimate yet danceable.

Cloud rap is a hip hop microgenre defined by ethereal, reverb‑drenched textures, soft pads, and minimal drum programming that creates a floating, dreamlike atmosphere. Beats tend to be sparse and space-conscious, with airy synths, distant vocal samples, and gentle 808s supporting raps that are often introspective, deadpan, or emotionally detached. The sound crystallized online in the early 2010s through platforms like DatPiff, Tumblr, and SoundCloud, pairing Southern rap rhythms with ambient and chillwave aesthetics. Rather than virtuosic density, cloud rap prizes mood, negative space, and a sense of weightlessness, translating internet-era solitude and nostalgia into hazy, pastel-toned hip hop.
