Khortha Pop
Khortha pop is contemporary popular music sung in the Khortha language, a widely spoken Indo‑Aryan language of Jharkhand (and adjoining Bihar) in eastern India. It blends local folk idioms, rhythms and storytelling with pan‑Indian pop and filmi (Bollywood) production aesthetics. The scene is grassroots and digital‑first: artists and small labels circulate songs through YouTube and regional media, modernizing presentation to reach younger audiences while keeping lyrics close to everyday life, romance, festivals and social themes from the Chota Nagpur plateau. As with other Jharkhandi languages, the language community and its visibility shape the sound’s identity and its push for wider recognition beyond the region.

Meenawati
Meenawati is a contemporary regional folk‑pop from the Meena (Minā/Meena) community of eastern Rajasthan, India. It is sung in the Meenawati/Meena dialect (a vernacular of the broader Rajasthani–Western Hindi belt) and blends village folk melodies and wedding song traditions with modern, beat‑driven production. Songs are typically love duets, wedding and festival numbers, playful teasing exchanges, or pride-in-community pieces that reference local places, clan names, and everyday life. Instrumentation spans harmonium, dholak, khartal, manjira, sarangi, and morchang, alongside keyboards, programmed drums, and Auto‑Tune. Rhythms most often sit in 4/4 with Hindustani folk talas such as keherwa (8‑beat) and dadra (6‑beat), while melodies lean on raga‑tinged folk modes (often Khamaj/Mixolydian or Pahadi) and a drone‑centered tonal feel. In the 2010s the style flourished on DVD/VCD markets and then YouTube and short‑video apps, where local labels and community ensembles release large volumes of singles and videos aimed at weddings, seasonal festivities, and village entertainment.

Rasiya
Rasiya is a North Indian folk genre from the Braj region (centered on Mathura–Vrindavan in present‑day Uttar Pradesh, with spillover into Bharatpur/Alwar in Rajasthan). Sung largely in Braj Bhasha and allied Hindi dialects, rasiya songs revolve around shringār (romance), with playful, teasing depictions of the divine love of Krishna and Radha. The term “rasiya” (lit. “epicure,” connoisseur of rasa) can denote the male suitor in the lyrics—or Krishna himself. Musically, rasiyas use stock tune types and call‑and‑response refrains, carried by harmonium or sarangi melodies over dholak patterns (often in kehervā/8 and dādrā/6, and in Holi contexts sometimes dhamār/14). Hand cymbals (manjīrā/jhānjh) and occasional bansuri or shehnai add color. The style ranges from devotional temple singing (samāj‑gāyan) to village fêtes, weddings, traveling troupe performances, and especially Holi festivities, where the genre is at its most exuberant.
