Shib is an internet-born microgenre that blends lo‑fi hip hop, cloud rap, and alt‑R&B sensibilities into short, emotionally direct songs. It favors intimate vocals (sung, whispered, or half‑rapped), warm and dusty textures, and compact forms optimized for streaming and social media discovery. Typical productions feature looped guitar or piano motifs, soft trap drums, vinyl crackle or room noise, and reverbs/delays that create a late‑night, confessional atmosphere. Lyrically, shib gravitates toward nostalgia, heartbreak, and private reflection—music made to sound like messages recorded in a bedroom at 2 a.m.

Trap cristiano (Spanish-language Christian trap) blends the sound design and rhythmic vocabulary of trap with explicitly Christian, biblically rooted, and testimony‑driven lyrics. It is characterized by 808-heavy low end, skittering hi-hats, half‑time grooves, and moody minor‑key pads, while centering themes such as faith, redemption, worship, and social conscience. The style grew out of long‑standing Hispanic Christian hip hop and reggaetón ministries and adapted the aesthetics of the mid‑2010s Latin trap boom to serve church, youth, and urban outreach contexts across Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and the wider Latin diaspora.

Christian trap is a faith-centered offshoot of trap and Christian hip hop that pairs 808-heavy drums, skittering hi-hats, and dark, atmospheric synths with explicitly Christian themes. It retains the rhythmic bounce, triplet flows, and modern vocal processing of mainstream trap while redirecting the lyrical focus toward testimony, spiritual struggles, hope, and worship. Producers often blend gospel harmony, choir textures, and scripture-inspired hooks with contemporary beatmaking, resulting in songs that can sit alongside secular trap sonically but feel uplifting and purpose-driven. The style is especially prominent in the streaming era, where playlists and online communities helped it flourish and reach younger church and campus audiences.
