Christian Hip Hop
Christian hip hop (also called holy hip hop or gospel rap) is a form of hip hop whose lyrics explicitly reflect the Christian faith, including themes of scripture, testimony, hope, social justice, and discipleship. Musically it spans the same spectrum as mainstream hip hop—from classic boom‑bap to Southern trap and melodic pop‑rap—often blending church-leaning elements like gospel choirs, worship-style hooks, and positive, exhortative messaging. While it shares the rhythmic, vocal, and production grammar of hip hop, its center of gravity is theological and pastoral, aiming to edify believers and engage broader audiences without resorting to profanity or nihilism.

Spoken Word
Spoken word is a performance-centered genre where text—poems, monologues, stories, or manifestos—is delivered aloud with musicality in voice rather than through singing. It may be entirely a cappella or accompanied by sparse instrumentation (often jazz combos, ambient textures, or minimal electronics) that frames the cadence and rhetoric of the performer. The emphasis is on language: prosody, pacing, imagery, and argument. Pieces often explore personal narratives, social critique, and political themes, drawing on techniques such as internal rhyme, alliteration, and repetition. While recordings exist, the tradition is fundamentally live, prioritizing immediacy, audience engagement, and oratorical presence.

Interview
Interview is a spoken-word recording genre that documents a conversation—typically between a host and a guest—focused on biography, creative process, cultural context, or timely topics. Although not musical in the strict sense, interview releases are integral to the music ecosystem: labels and media have long issued press-only promos, radio transcription discs, fan-club LPs, and CD box-set extras featuring interviews with artists. These recordings foreground voice, narrative, and authenticity, often serving as historical primary sources that frame an artist’s work and era.

Pìobaireachd
Pìobaireachd (often anglicized as pibroch; Gaelic for "pipe music") is the classical art music of the Great Highland bagpipe. It is characterized by a theme-and-variations form built on a ground (urlar) followed by increasingly elaborate variation cycles. The music is typically non-metric or flexibly pulsed, with expressive pacing, extensive ornamental movements (such as taorluath and crunluath), and a continuous drone from the bagpipe’s three drones. Tunes are often categorized as laments (cumha), salutes, gatherings, and battle pieces, reflecting ceremonial and commemorative functions within Highland culture. Pìobaireachd is traditionally transmitted both through staff notation and through canntaireachd, a mnemonic vocal system that encodes melody and ornamentation using syllables. The repertoire emphasizes modal melody (commonly mixolydian on the bagpipe’s A) and deep phrasing over harmonic progression.
