Sertanejo Tradicional
Sertanejo tradicional (also called sertanejo de raiz) is the early, roots-oriented form of Brazilian country music that crystallized from rural “caipira” song traditions in the early 20th century. It is centered on duet vocals singing in close harmony and the distinctive sound of the viola caipira (10‑string Brazilian guitar), often supported by acoustic guitar and, at times, accordion. The style features storytelling ballads (modas de viola), devotional and pastoral themes, and dance rhythms adapted from Iberian and Southern Cone sources such as waltz, polka, xote, chamamé, and guarânia. Its melodies are typically diatonic and folk-like, harmonies rely on simple functional progressions, and arrangements highlight picked patterns and bass runs (baixarias) on viola. Lyrically, the music celebrates rural life, love, faith, landscapes, and the nostalgia (saudade) of the countryside.

Violao Classico
Violão clássico is the Brazilian Portuguese term for the classical guitar tradition: solo and ensemble repertoire performed on a nylon‑string (Spanish) guitar with notated scores, formal concert technique, and aesthetic roots in Western art music. While the modern classical guitar developed in 19th‑century Spain, the “violão” identity crystallized in Brazil through composers and performers who fused European forms (preludes, études, suites) with Brazilian melodies, harmonies, and rhythmic cells. The instrument’s warm timbre, polyphonic potential, and idiomatic right‑hand techniques (apoyando/tirando, arpeggios, tremolo, rasgueado) make it a complete orchestra in miniature. In Brazil, this tradition both preserves the canon (from Renaissance/Baroque transcriptions to Romantic originals) and expands it with a distinctive national voice.

Musica Sinfonica
Música sinfónica designates large-scale orchestral music, typically written for a full symphony orchestra and articulated in several movements. It emphasizes thematic development, contrast of keys and textures, and idiomatic orchestration across strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Historically, the term and practice grew out of the Italian opera overture or sinfonia of the late 17th and early 18th centuries (fast–slow–fast), which evolved into autonomous multi-movement works and the Classical symphony. From Haydn and Mozart through Beethoven, the genre became the central orchestral form. Romantic and 20th-century composers expanded its scale, color, and expressive range while retaining its core orchestral identity.
