Funky tech house is a club-focused substyle of tech house that fuses the genre’s tight, modern drum architecture with the syncopation, bass guitar feel, and feel‑good riffing of classic funk and disco. It favors chunky low‑end hooks, swung percussion, and short, sample‑like stabs or guitar/keys licks that ride a steady 4/4 groove. Typical tempos sit around 124–128 BPM. Production emphasizes crisp, punchy kicks, off‑beat open hats, and clap/snare accents, with rolling, syncopated basslines that provide a constant sense of forward motion. While the aesthetic is cleaner and more minimal than traditional funky house, it keeps the smiley, dance‑floor character—often through filtered loops, bluesy or jazzy chord voicings, and memorable one‑line vocal hooks.

Tulum is a contemporary electronic dance music sound that crystallized around the boutique party scene in Tulum, Mexico, during the 2010s. It blends deep, organic house grooves with downtempo sensibilities, hand-played percussion, and "world"-leaning timbres such as oud, bansuri, handpan, and Latin guitar. The style favors warm, analog textures; modal, minor-key harmonies (often Dorian or Phrygian); long, reverb-washed atmospheres; and subtle, mantra-like vocals or chants. Tempos usually sit between 112–120 BPM, with earthy polyrhythms and shuffling, Afro- and Latin-influenced percussion propelling a hypnotic four-on-the-floor. Aesthetically, the Tulum sound is associated with sunrise/sunset beach settings, bohemian design, and a wellness-forward, festival-adjacent culture. Musically it overlaps with the broader “organic house/downtempo” movement while retaining a distinctly tropical, ritualistic character.

Deep deep tech house is a particularly stripped‑back, hypnotic strain of tech house that leans heavily into deep house harmony and minimal, dub‑tinged textures. It keeps the 4/4 groove and club functionality of house while favoring restrained arrangements, long tension arcs, and subtle sound‑design over big breakdowns. Typical tempos sit around 120–126 BPM; drums emphasize tight 909‑style hats and crisp, short kicks; basslines are warm, rolling subs that lock with lightly swung percussion; harmonic content tends to be sparse—muted chord stabs, airy pads, and occasional soulful vocal fragments used as texture rather than focal hooks. The overall aim is an immersive “head‑down” flow that rewards long blends and extended sets. The palette and structure trace back to tech house’s fusion of house and techno and to deep house’s smoother harmonies.

Modern funk is a 21st‑century revitalization of late‑’70s/’80s boogie and electro‑funk aesthetics, filtered through contemporary R&B, hip‑hop production, and indie dance scenes. It emphasizes pocket‑tight grooves, syncopated basslines (often synth‑driven), crisp drum‑machine patterns, bright polyphonic synths, talkbox/vocoder leads, and clean, choppy rhythm guitar. Compared with classic funk, modern funk leans more on analog and early‑digital synth colors (Juno, Prophet, DX7, Moog), Linn/808/909‑style drums, glossy mixes, and ear‑candy arrangement details. Lyrically, it favors feel‑good party vibes, love themes, and everyday swagger, aiming for dancefloor immediacy with a retro‑futurist sheen.

UK jackin is a bass-forward strain of house and UK garage that emerged in the UK during the early 2010s. It blends the swing and shuffle of garage with the chunky, percussive drive of house, emphasizing rubbery low‑end riffs, organ stabs, and chopped R&B or soul vocals. Compared with classic Chicago jackin’ house, the UK variant is darker and punchier, drawing heavily from bassline and UK bass aesthetics. Tracks typically sit around 124–130 BPM, use swung drums and syncopated bass patterns, and are arranged with DJ‑friendly intros, tension‑building breakdowns, and emphatic drops.
