Sambass ("samba + bass") is a Brazilian take on drum and bass that fuses the breakbeat engine of DnB with the syncopated swing, percussion, and lush harmonies of samba and bossa nova. Typically in the 170–175 BPM range, sambass keeps rolling, liquid-style drums while layering pandeiro, cuíca, agogô, tamborim, and surdo patterns. Melodically, it borrows from Brazilian popular music and bossa nova—lush chords (maj7, 9ths, 11ths, 13ths), nylon‑string guitar or cavaquinho, and warm, melodic basslines—often with Portuguese vocals. The result is drum and bass that is simultaneously dance‑floor ready and sun‑drenched, combining high energy with feel‑good, soulful atmospheres.

Electro‑jazz is a hybrid of modern electronic production and the vocabulary of jazz (swing or straight grooves, extended harmony, improvisation, and acoustic timbres). It typically blends drum‑machine patterns or sampled breakbeats with upright/electric bass, Rhodes or Wurlitzer electric piano, horns, and atmospheric synths. The style ranges from downtempo, trip‑hop‑leaning tracks built around dusty jazz samples to house‑tempo cuts featuring live brass and keys riding a club‑ready beat. Hallmarks include lush seventh–thirteenth chords, modal vamping, syncopated basslines, tasteful solos processed with delays and reverbs, and a studio aesthetic borrowed from electronica and hip‑hop (sampling, loop construction, side‑chain compression, filter sweeps). While often relaxed and cinematic, electro‑jazz can also be dance‑floor oriented, inheriting four‑on‑the‑floor kick patterns and arrangement logic from house while keeping melodic and harmonic language rooted in jazz.
