London ON indie refers to the indie rock and indie pop scene centered in London, Ontario, Canada (often nicknamed the Forest City). It blends guitar-forward alternative rock, tuneful indie pop, and a DIY punk spirit, with occasional synth-pop shimmer and dream‑pop textures. The scene is sustained by university radio (CHRW/Radio Western), grassroots labels and promoters, and a tight network of venues such as London Music Hall, Rum Runners, and the much‑mythologized Call The Office. Lyrically, artists often capture small‑city resilience, relationships, and touring life across Southwestern Ontario, favoring earnest hooks, driving rhythms, and sing‑along choruses.

Nu gaze (often styled "nugaze") is a 21st‑century revival and modernization of classic shoegaze aesthetics. It preserves the genre’s hallmark blankets of overdriven guitars, blurred vocals, and swirling reverb/delay, but folds in cleaner indie-rock songcraft, post-rock dynamics, and contemporary production—often including synth pads, drum programming, and tighter low-end. Compared with 1990s shoegaze, nu gaze typically presents brighter mixes, crisper transients, and pop-leaning hooks while retaining an enveloping, dreamy atmosphere.

Ambient pop is a style of pop music that foregrounds atmosphere, timbre, and texture over conventional hooks, while still retaining song-based structures and accessible melodies. It drapes simple chordal movement and soft vocals in capacious reverbs, delays, and drones, often letting sound design and spatial depth carry as much expressive weight as lyrics. Compared with mainstream pop, ambient pop tends to be slower, quieter, and more minimal. It borrows the weightless pads and sustained tones of ambient music, the hazy guitar treatments of dream pop and shoegaze, and the gentle pulse of downtempo and chillout. The result is intimate, nocturnal, and cinematic music that feels both approachable and immersive.
