Rock Barrial
Rock barrial (also called rock chabón or rolinga) is a strand of Argentine rock rooted in working‑class neighborhoods and the football terrace culture. It favors raw, guitar‑driven songs with sing‑along choruses, simple blues‑rock riffs, and lyrics about everyday barrio life: friendship, love, street survival, pride, and the ethos of el aguante. Musically, it leans on 4/4 mid‑tempo grooves, I–IV–V and closely related progressions, crunchy overdriven guitars, prominent bass lines, tight backbeats, and frequent harmonica parts. The vocal delivery is direct and gritty, inviting crowd participation in stadium‑style chants. While primarily blues‑based, some bands fold in rioplatense rhythmic flavors and occasional reggae/ska touches, but always with a streetwise, unpolished attitude.

Reggae-Pop
Reggae-pop blends the offbeat rhythms, skanking guitar, and bass-forward grooves of reggae with the hooks, song structures, and polished production of mainstream pop. It typically features bright, catchy choruses, romantic or feel-good lyrics, and accessible arrangements that keep the reggae pulse while smoothing edges for radio play. Drum patterns often sit in the 75–100 BPM range and may alternate between a laid-back one-drop feel and a straighter pop backbeat, while keyboards and guitars accent the offbeats to preserve the genre’s Caribbean character.

Rock
Rock is a broad family of popular music centered on amplified instruments, a strong backbeat, and song forms that foreground riffs, choruses, and anthemic hooks. Emerging from mid‑20th‑century American styles like rhythm & blues, country, and gospel-inflected rock and roll, rock quickly expanded in scope—absorbing folk, blues, and psychedelic ideas—while shaping global youth culture. Core sonic markers include electric guitar (often overdriven), electric bass, drum kit emphasizing beats 2 and 4, and emotive lead vocals. Rock songs commonly use verse–chorus structures, blues-derived harmony, and memorable melodic motifs, ranging from intimate ballads to high‑energy, stadium‑sized performances.

Candombe
Candombe is an Afro‑Uruguayan percussion tradition centered on the interplay of three barrel drums called tamboriles: chico (the high, time‑keeping drum), repique (the improvisatory, conversational drum), and piano (the deep, bass foundation). Played in a forward‑moving parade formation known as a cuerda de tambores, its groove is driven by a characteristic clave‑like timeline articulated on the shell (madera) and by the interlocking parts of the three drums. Beyond rhythm, candombe is a living cultural practice linked to Afro‑Uruguayan neighborhoods in Montevideo—especially Barrio Sur, Palermo, and Cordón—where comparsas (troupes) combine drummers, dancers, flag bearers, and emblematic characters (mamas viejas, gramilleros, and the escobero). While primarily percussive, modern song forms and fusions often add vocals, guitar, bass, and keyboards, projecting candombe into jazz, pop, and rock contexts while retaining its unmistakable swing and street‑parade energy.
