Algorave
Algorave is a form of dance music culture where the music is created and manipulated live through code, with the performer writing algorithms on stage that generate rhythm, melody, and timbre in real time. The audience typically sees the code projected, turning the act of programming into an expressive, improvisatory performance. Sonically, algorave draws on club styles like techno, house, acid, and rave, while embracing experimental tactics from glitch, IDM, and live algorithmic composition. Expect driving tempos (often 120–160 BPM), polyrhythms, euclidean patterns, evolving loops, and raw, percussive sound design that foregrounds process, pattern, and transformation.

Acid Trance
Acid trance is a European strain of trance that fuses trance’s long-form builds and euphoric breakdowns with the “acid” sound—squelching, resonant, 303-driven basslines manipulated in real time. Its signature timbre comes from the Roland TB-303 (or faithful emulations and clones), whose cutoff, resonance, envelope mod, accent, and slide are automated or performed live to create elastic, bubbling sequences. These lines are set against 4/4 club rhythms at roughly 130–145 BPM, with airy pads, trance arpeggios, and big-room breakdowns that emphasize tension and release. The style became particularly identified with Belgium, where it was heavily showcased at early raves and on labels that pushed a harder, more hypnotic direction within the broader trance movement.

Bubble Trance
Bubble trance is a highly melodic, pop-leaning branch of late-1990s European trance characterized by bright, "bubbly" lead synths, catchy toplines, and big hands-in-the-air breakdowns. Producers favor simple, earworm hooks (often sung by female vocalists or rendered as lead-synth melodies), glossy supersaws and plucks, and clean, side‑chained pads that create a buoyant, effervescent feel. Rhythms are four-on-the-floor at club-ready tempos, with snare rolls, white-noise risers, and dramatic filter sweeps leading into euphoric drops. Compared with harder German/Dutch hard trance, bubble trance softens the edges, borrowing pop song structure and Eurodance accessibility while preserving trance’s build‑and‑release architecture and atmospheric uplift.
