The focus is less on big breakdowns and more on hypnotic groove and small, incremental changes that reward close listening. Production places great value on negative space, elegant sound design, and hi-fidelity mixing. Emerging from European club culture (notably Germany) in the late 1990s and early 2000s, minimal house connected the swing and soul of house to the reductionist aesthetics of minimal techno and the digital finesse of glitch.
