The New Wave of Classic Rock (NWOCR) is a revivalist musical movement that emerged primarily in the United Kingdom. It is characterized by a return to the sound, aesthetic, and ethos of classic rock, hard rock, and blues rock bands from the 1970s and 1980s. The genre emphasizes high-energy performances, riff-heavy songwriting, soaring vocals, and a 'meat and potatoes' approach to production that favors organic instrumentation over modern electronic elements. It is both a musical style and a grassroots community, driven by a desire to keep the spirit of traditional rock 'n' roll alive in the modern era.

The new wave of glam metal is a 21st‑century revival of 1980s glam/hair metal aesthetics and songcraft, updated with contemporary production and a sometimes heavier, sleazier edge. Bands in this movement favor big, hook‑driven choruses, dual‑guitar harmonies, and flashy lead work, paired with anthemic, party‑centric lyrics and theatrical presentation (leather, makeup, neon visuals). Sonically it marries hard rock riffing and classic heavy‑metal guitar tones with sing‑along pop sensibilities and gang‑vocal refrains. While inspired by Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip era, the revival took firm root in Scandinavia (especially Sweden) before spreading globally via independent labels, online communities, and festival circuits. The result is a style that delivers the exuberance of classic glam with modern punch and precision.

Glam metal (often called hair metal) is a flamboyant strain of 1980s hard rock and heavy metal defined by high-energy riffs, anthemic choruses, and glossy, radio-ready production. It pairs the swagger of hard rock with pop hooks, multi-tracked vocal harmonies, and virtuosic guitar solos. Visually, the style is theatrical: teased hair, makeup, spandex, and flashy stagewear echo the glam rock of the 1970s, while the music embraces both party-ready anthems and power ballads. The sound is big, bright, and built for arenas and MTV-era music television.

AOR (often read as Album-Oriented Rock and, in stylistic terms, Adult-Oriented Rock) is a polished, melody-forward strain of rock geared for FM radio and arena stages. It pairs sleek production with anthemic choruses, soaring vocals, and a balance of guitar crunch and prominent keyboards, aiming for broad appeal without sacrificing musicianship. In practice, AOR sits between hard rock and soft rock: tight rhythm sections, glossy multi-tracked harmonies, clean-to-overdriven guitar leads, and radio-friendly structures. Its repertoire spans driving uptempo anthems and emotive power ballads, with frequent key changes for climactic final choruses, meticulously layered arrangements, and lyrical themes of romance, resilience, and escape.

Glam rock is a style of rock music that emerged in the early 1970s, defined as much by its flamboyant image and theatricality as by its sound. Artists embraced androgynous fashion, glitter, makeup, platform boots, and bold stage personas, using spectacle to amplify simple, catchy, riff-driven songs. Musically, glam rock fuses the drive of 1950s rock and roll with hard rock crunch, bubblegum pop hooks, and a sense of artful provocation. Songs often feature stomping, chant-ready rhythms, big choruses, guitar riffs, handclaps, and shout-along refrains. Lyrically, it leans into themes of fantasy, fame, gender play, street romance, and campy drama, blurring the line between pop accessibility and avant-garde performance.
