Still Here

Chinese hip hop is the family of hip hop scenes across Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the Chinese diaspora that adapts rap, DJing, and beatmaking to Sinitic languages and regional cultures. It blends core hip hop elements—MCing, sampling, breakbeats, and later trap production—with Mandarin, Cantonese, and regional dialect flows, often incorporating melodic hooks borrowed from Mandopop/C‑pop and occasional samples or timbral references to traditional Chinese instruments. Lyric themes range from street realism and self‑expression to wordplay, social commentary, and internet‑age humor, while industry realities (broadcast standards and platform guidelines) encourage creative metaphor, double entendre, and coded storytelling.

Christian hip hop (also called holy hip hop or gospel rap) is a form of hip hop whose lyrics explicitly reflect the Christian faith, including themes of scripture, testimony, hope, social justice, and discipleship. Musically it spans the same spectrum as mainstream hip hop—from classic boom‑bap to Southern trap and melodic pop‑rap—often blending church-leaning elements like gospel choirs, worship-style hooks, and positive, exhortative messaging. While it shares the rhythmic, vocal, and production grammar of hip hop, its center of gravity is theological and pastoral, aiming to edify believers and engage broader audiences without resorting to profanity or nihilism.

Christian pop is a strand of contemporary Christian music that adopts the sounds, structures, and production values of mainstream pop while centering explicitly Christian, faith-based, and inspirational lyrics. It emphasizes catchy hooks, polished vocals, verse–chorus–bridge song forms, and radio-friendly arrangements. Sonically it ranges from soft rock and adult contemporary ballads to synth-driven, dance-pop tracks, mirroring broader pop trends while maintaining messages of hope, testimony, praise, and everyday discipleship.
